Do you notice that we have a tendency to negatively exaggerate in conversation and thought? For example, do you hear people say things like, "I'm the worst public speaker in the world" or "I bet your grandmother can run faster than I can"? Do you ever think thoughts like "I'll never get out of debt" or "I can't face another day at this job?" Or how about, “I’m going to kill my boss?”

Guess what? Despite the fact that we tend to treat these thoughts and words as inconsequential in the course of daily conversation, we are actually creating our reality with these thoughts and words. Whatever we focus on is attracted into our lives – whether we are aware of it or not. How does this work? Because thoughts and words are actual energy structures that are projected into the physical world, where they attract events and situations to manifest the reality that matches those thoughts and words.

How can you stop saying and thinking words and thoughts that you don’t want to create? By stopping the outer talk first. Thoughts are usually too quick for us to control – they slip by us so fast we don’t even notice them. But you can more easily start speaking deliberately, not saying anything you don’t want to create. Once you stop the outer talking, the inner thoughts will start to subside as well.

If you just remember that thoughts are things and words have wings, you’ll find it easier to be deliberate in thought and word. Good luck!
