My husband and I were coming back from Christmas vacation. We were driving from Alabama to Colorado. We had both (unbeknownst to each other) put an omnil around our van to protect it and make it invisible to police and radar when we were traveling over the speed limit.
As we approached south Denver we decided to use the toll road for which my husband had a transponder. This is a device that allows us to drive at speed through an electronic toll gate that sends down a signal which is received by the transponder and sent back registering every time we go through a gate. The toll is later charged to our account. The transponder beeps to let you know it has registered.
We drove through the first gate and there was no beep! We were surprised and discussed the possibility of what would happen to us. Would they send police after us for running the toll gate? We decided to stop at the next gate and as we slowed down for the attendants' window the transponder beeped and he told us not to worry about the previous gate.
We proceeded to the next gate and drove under it and AGAIN there was no beep. We started to discuss what could be wrong when we both remembered we had placed omnils around the car. We took down our omnils and drove through the last two booths with the transponder beeping happily. We had quite a giggle over our safe drive home. No tickets, no mishaps, and no toll police.
